Coach McLendon Q&A
"We have a great spring schedule, and my expectations are for us to really make a move and be in contention for a conference title and possibly a birth into the national championship."
Q: Now that the fall season is over, how would you summarize the season?
A: I thought we had a great fall season. We improved each tournament and had a chance to win a couple also.
Q: What would you say have been this year's biggest improvements from last season as a program?
A: Our overall consistency has shown a large improvement. We were in contention in most of the tournaments.
Q: Who stood out this fall (in performance)?
A: The willingness to improve and to compete has been nice to see. Alex Broadaway had a second-place finish, and we had another top five finish with Jackson Scott.
Q: Who progressed the most from the first practice to the end of the fall?
A: Our understanding of how to play and what is expected at the tournaments was a nice improvement. We still have room to improve, but we are getting close to where we need to be.
Q: Have any sophomores shown tremendous improvement from last season?
A: Jackson Bailey and Roman Purvee have shown great improvement, and I look forward to them continuing to get better.
Q: How do you feel the freshmen have adapted to college level?
A: Our freshmen have been great so far. They've adapted really well, and I believe they will only get better.
Q: What are some things/areas the team has to improve on for the upcoming spring season?
A: We still need to be more consistent. We seem to play 15 out of 18 good holes, and the three holes we don't play well are holding us back from really moving forward.
Q: How does the spring season and schedule look? What expectations do you (and team) have?
A: We have a great spring schedule, and my expectations are for us to really make a move and be in contention for a conference title and possibly a birth into the national championship.
Q: LBW hosted its first tournament in October, will this be an annual event? How was the golf course and responses from teams who participated?
A: Yes, we are planning to make this an annual event. The golf course was amazing as always. The teams that participated enjoyed themselves and we look forward to having more teams next year.
Q: Now in the second season, are there things you feel you are better prepared to handle to help with team? (such as travel, practices, planning, etc…)
A: I feel better prepared as far as what to expect and also as far as the golf courses too. It helps having played some of the courses already.
